The activities of the group include applied and fundamental research and cover a range of areas, namely Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology, Immunology and Molecular and Cell Biology. Research programmes in the Laboratory of Biochemistry include PhD and MSc students, final year undergraduate project students and intercalated BSc students.

The research staff belongs to the Drugs, Targets and Biomarkers (DTB) research group of UCIBIO/REQUIMTE, a research unit evaluated as excellent by FCT in 2019.
