Teaching methods and learning activities

Presentation of the physical phenomena and their relation with the building elements in two lectures per week, lasting 50 min each. At the practical lessons, lasting 1h 50 min, application exercises are solved.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The used teaching methodologies allow to deal with the main themes related to building design, in Building Physics domain, the analysis, discussion and critical interpretation of results, emphasizing the potential of writing communication, problem formulation and regulatory compliance.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation with final exam

Assessment Components

Designation Weight (%)
Exame 75,00
Teste 25,00
Total: 100,00

Amount of time allocated to each course unit

Designation Time (hours)
Estudo autónomo 52,00
Frequência das aulas 52,00
Total: 104,00

Eligibility for exams

Achieving final classification requires compliance with attendance at the course unit. It is considered that students meet the attendance requirements if, having been regularly enrolled, the number of absences of 25% for lessons in the classroom is not exceeded.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final grade, CF:

CF = max {CT ; EF}

Where,

CT = 25% x MAD + 75% x EF

MAD – grade of the intermediate test;
EF – grade of the final exam.

The intermediate test is optional. If studants do not carry out the intermediate test:

CT=100% x EF

Observations

Study time at home: 4 hours/week.

English class available.
