DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:
The "Engineering Services" has not yet assumed a position in our country that allows individual highlight of the performance of general civil engineering. Although civil engineers in their professional practice are currently involved in tasks which nature has full definition as engineering services. Of particular significance to services practice of "construction control" in which civil engineers have a key role. The National Legislation gives the "construction control" a set of skills whose practical implementation lacks application methodologies usually ignored.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Presentation of documentation and discussion on the various themes. It will also be presented and discussed some “cases” that serve as example for the theoretical contents. The practical classes will be for the students to analyse and solve some individual practical cases.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Who has a broad vision of professional practice in this area can easily see a clear lack of academic preparation for such tasks; services are made without schematize a functional plan and construction control is interpreted as "policing”, "controlling”, "ensure quality", "technical assistance", "technical direction", etc. The most current mistake is to assume the work of supervision/coordination as one of "alternative designer" to situations "in situ". This type of activity, its proximity and scope of the construction process, captures professional in their early career which seek (in vain) in their academic knowledge to enable them to overcome these early professional challenges. The Civil Engineer, either in terms of preparation for the different phases of design, both for the production phase, is, as it is said, in a privileged position to assume an important role in the supervision/coordination of the construction of a building without being required to have a specific preparation.

Eligibility for exams

Achieving final classification requires compliance with attendance at the course unit, according to the MIEC assessment rules. It is considered that students meet the attendance requirements if, having been regularly enrolled, the number of absences of 25% for each of the classes’ types is not exceeded.
