Objectives

Identifying and defining three-dimensional geometric shapes and their representation on the plane. Application of «languages» of graphical representation used in Engineering – the Technical Drawing, the Marked Level Method (one-orthogonal projection plane system) and the Topographic Drawing. The importance of the Technical Drawing as «professional language» associated to the conception, execution and interpretation of the engineering drawings.

Program

Technical Drawing: Sizes of design sheets. Types of lines. Projection systems – conic, parallel and orthogonal. Views. Disposition of views. Principal views. Primary and secondary auxiliary views. Sectional views. Indication and disposition of sections. Partial sections. Rotation of section planes.
Architecture Drawing: Site, global and detail drawings. Plans. Elevations. Sections. Symbolic representation: doors and windows; sanitary equipment and other permanent equipment; stairs; furniture; revetment of surfaces. Dimensioning of plans and sections.
Marked Level Method: Point, line, plane. Union. Intersection. Perpendicularity. Metric problems. Applications. Roof plans. Shadows: parallel light; conic light.
Topographic surfaces: Definition. Level lines. Scales. Equidistance. Planes and lines intersections. Profiles. Maximum inclination lines. Equal inclination lines. Applications. Stretches of roads – plan drawing; areas occupied by fill and excavation slopes; longitudinal and transversal profiles; fill and excavation volumes. Dams – plan drawing; lagoons volumes.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Gradual explanation of the discipline’s matters, in the theoretical lessons. Resolution of problems, in the practical lessons.

Evaluation Type

Distributed evaluation without final exam

Eligibility for exams

A student gets frequency in the discipline if his/her non-presences in the lessons do not exceed 25 % of the foreseen number of practical lessons.
