Objectives
a) This course aims to give an overview on industrial thermal systems
b) By the end of the semester, students should:
a) be acquainted with importance of energy saving
b) know how to assess results in an energy audit
c) be able to define the parameters that should be followed in an Energy Consumption Rationalization Plan
d) be able to manage energy

The Need for Energy Management. The Eergy Audit and the Racionalization Plan. Basic Principles of Energy Accountancy. Energy Scales. Thermodynamics - Revision of Basic Concepts. Exergy Analysis. Exergy of Heat. Irreversibility. The Guoy-Stodola Relation. Co-energy and Co-enthalpy. Exergy Efficiency. Exergy Analysis of Combustion Processes. Cogeneration. Basic Criteria for the Evaluation of Cogeneration Plants. Types of Cogeneration Plants. Economic Analysis of Cogeneration Systems. Combined Cycles. Series and Paralel Combined Cycles. The Curzon-Ahlborn Efficiency.
