Objectives

This discipline aims the conception and design of a special structure, always inspired in an existing outstanding structure (one distinct structure for each group of 4 students). The existing structure must be characterized both structurally and in its architectonic, cultural and heritage features. The design solution developed by the students should not be a copy of the built one, but rather be an alternative solution, to be presented as Scheme Design.
This discipline includes also special lectures on a variety of subjects related to the Profession of a Structural Engineer.

Program

Conception and design of part of a special structure and attendance of organized conferences by Invited Specialists.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Each group of four students is supervised by a member of the Teaching Staff but the work is developed by the students with great autonomy.

Distributed evaluation without final exam
