Program
1st Semester:
Development of full projects for injection moulds, covering, among others, the following topics: three-dimensional modelling of the final part using a CAD system; dimensioning of the functional systems of the mould (feed, cooling and extracting); analysis of the material flux during the injection phase, with optimisation of the feed point locations.
2nd Semester:
Completing an industrial final project, integrated in a stage held inside companies specialized in the production or utilization of injection moulds.
Teaching methods and learning activities
After the presentation, in the first sessions, of relevant works in the areas of injection moulding of aluminium alloys and plastic injection, the students will develop studies needed to the concretisation of the proposed projects, including the preparation of the corresponding reports. At the end of the 1st semester, the students should make the presentation, with discussion, of the respective works.
