Denis Dalli is currently a H2020 Research Fellow at the University of Porto, working on the TEMPEST project (Towards Carbon-Neutral Composite Crashworthiness), collaborating with McLaren Racing, Bcomp, Instron and the FIA, focusing on the introduction of natural fibre composites in automotive crash structures. For this project, he was awarded a research grant under the H2020 Widening Fellowship Programme.
Denis obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University Belfast in 2020, in the area of composite crashworthiness, through his collaboration with McLaren Racing. Previously, he graduated with an MSc in motorsport engineering from Cranfield University in 2016, following a mechanical engineering bachelor's degree from the University of Malta in 2015.
His main interests include the development of novel composite technologies, particularly on the experimental and numerical aspects of composite crashworthiness and sustainability.
