I am a Principal Researcher in the Advanced Joining Processes Unit (AJPU) at the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI) in Porto, Portugal, and a research collaborator at the University of Porto since September 2021. I earned my Ph.D. with honors in Mechanical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, in January 2016. Part of my Ph.D. research was conducted at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. Additionally, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at CEMMPRE (2019–2021), University of Coimbra, and served as an Assistant Professor at QIAU in Iran (2016–2019).
My research focuses on the development of advanced metal forming and joining processes based on plastic deformation. This includes process and tool design, finite element modeling, mechanical testing and modeling of materials and joints, and failure analysis. Over the past two years, I have focused on electric vehicle (EV) batteries, particularly on designing disassemblable battery packs for sustainable e-mobility.
I have established myself as an active researcher, with one authored book, four book chapters, 52 published papers, and over 60 presentations at national and international scientific conferences. Throughout my academic journey, I have received several awards and honors, including the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award at Tarbiat Modares University and the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Conference on Engineering Manufacture (EM2022) in Porto, Portugal.
I serve as an Associate Editor at Frontiers in Batteries and Electrochemistry and sit on the editorial board of Discover Mechanical Engineering (Springer). I also act as a guest editor for Materials (MDPI) and the Journal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing (MDPI). In addition, I am a member of the scientific committees for international conferences such as Advanced Joining Processes (AJP2023, AJP2025) and Engineering Manufacture (EM2024, EM2026). I have reviewed over 270 papers for ISI-indexed peer-reviewed journals, with contributions to more than 40 different journals.
In addition to my academic and research activities, I co-founded and managed a company in the field of metal forming and a hardware startup accelerator in Iran. I have also collaborated with major industrial partners such as Volvo, Aston Martin, SABIC, and others, contributing to several applied research and industrial projects throughout my career.
