Mohammad Mehdi Kasaei is a Principal Investigator in the Advanced Joining Processes Unit (AJPU) at INEGI and a collaborator at the University of Porto in Porto, Portugal. He earned his Ph.D. with honors in Mechanical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, in 2016. As part of his Ph.D., he conducted research at the University of Lisbon. Additionally, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at CEMMPRE, University of Coimbra in Portugal, and as an Assistant Professor at QIAU in Iran. His research activity focuses on the development of advanced metal forming processes and joining processes by plastic deformation. This includes process and tool design, finite element modeling, testing and modeling of the mechanical behavior of materials and joints, and failure analysis. He has established himself as an active researcher with over 40 published papers, 1 book, 4 book chapters, and over 70 presentations at various national and international scientific conferences. Throughout his studies and career, he has received several awards and honors. He serves on the editorial board of Discover Mechanical Engineering (Springer) and is a member of the scientific committees for conferences such as Advanced Joining Processes (AJP) and Engineering Manufacture (EM). In addition to his academic and research pursuits, he co-founded and managed a company active in the field of metal forming and a hardware startup accelerator in Iran. Furthermore, he has consistently collaborated with industries and has undertaken several industrial projects throughout his career.
