Apresentação Pessoal

Jorge Belinha is graduated in Civil Engineering (2002) and holds an M.Sc. degree in Structural Engineering (2005), both obtained in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).
Additionally, in 2010 he has concluded his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at FEUP.

Since his graduation, he has been an integrated researcher at INEGI, in the Design and Experimental Validation Unit (UCVE). He participates actively in international and national research projects, in cooperation with clinical and academic partners. Until 2018, his excellence in science has granted him 4 research merit grants from the Portuguese National Agency for Science (1 Ph.D. grant and 3 Pos-Doc).

His areas of interest, both in research and teaching, are: advanced discretization techniques (high order finite elements and meshless methods); nonlinear solid mechanics; and bone tissue remodelling analysis.

As a result of the researching activities, until 2018, he has published: one book with international distribution ( http://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783319063997 ) ; 75 papers in international scientific periodicals with referees; 50 book chapters; and he is the author of more than 350 works published in proceedings of conferences.

Regarding the pedagogic background, since 2009 to 2018, he was an invited professor of FEUP, in which he has lectured several structural mechanics unit courses, such as: Classic Mechanics (Static and Dynamics); Solid Mechanics; Continuum Mechanics; Finite Element Methods; Advanced Discretization Techniques; Biomechanical Simulation.
In addition, until 2018, he has supervised about 50 MSc thesis and he is the supervisor 8 PhD thesis.
In the beginning of 2018, he has accepted a tenured Professor position at School of Engineering, Polytechnic of Porto, in the Mechanical Engineering Department (ISEP-IPP).
