Current position:

Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto since 2005. He is currently a collaborator of the Centre for Research and Development in Mathematics and Applications (CIDMA).

Education:

PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (Contributions to the Analysis of discrete-valued time series). Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics (1998) and Degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science (1995), from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto.

Main research interests/skills:

Scientific interests and research activity belong to the area of Time Series Analysis, particularly time series of integer, non-negative values, such as count series. The overall objective is the statistical modelling of INteger Value AutoRegressive (INAR) and Moving Average (INMA) models, namely parameter estimation and order selection, both in the univariate and multivariate cases.  In addition, another topic that has been developed is the detection of outliers in INAR models. Currently, research work focuses on modelling censored count time series and time series of count with missing data.

Main activities:

Author and co-author of several articles in international journals and book chapters (with review). Supervisor of a PhD thesis in Applied Mathematics (completed in 2016). She has been the main examiner or member of several doctoral and master's degree juries in Mathematics. Member of the Organizing Committee of 3 national conferences. Presenter of several oral communications at national and international conferences.

Other relevant information:

Member of the Board of CLAD - Associação Portuguesa de Classificação e Análise de Dados (Portuguese Association for Data Classification and Analysis) between July 2010 and December 2020 (she was Treasurer between July 2010 and November 2017, and later became a member).
