Current position: Full Professor of Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP); Head of the Civil Engineering Department; Coordinator of CSF-Centre of Competence in Railways; Member of the Scientific Council of FEUP; Member of the Management Board of the R&D unit CONSTRUCT- Institute of R&D in Structures and Construction.
Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1992); Master in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (1995); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2003); Habilitation in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2013).
Main research interests/skills: Advanced models for analysis of the train-infrastructure dynamic interaction; dynamic effects on bridges and transition zones; fatigue assessment of railway bridges; track-structure interaction; condition monitoring systems (wayside and on-board); advanced algorithms for condition assessment of the railway infrastructure.

Main activities: Principal Investigator of 12 research projects and member of the team of 10 research projects in the area of railways; supervisor of 16 doctoral theses; author of more than 300 scientific and technical publications.
