Associate Professor of the Building Division of the Department of Civil Engineering of FEUP. Director and Member of the Scientific Committee of MBUILD MSc in Sustainable Design, Construction and Management of the Built Environment. Co-Director of MPRINCE Master in Integrated Building Design and Construction. Member of the Monitoring Committee of the PRODEC Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering. 

Academic Education

Degree in Civil Engineering - Structural Design (FEUP, 1980). PhD in Civil Engineering (FEUP, 1995).

Main Research Interests/Skills

Design Quality Assessment. Economic and Operational Performance of Construction Companies. Benchmarking. Lean Construction. Management and Coordination of Design Teams. IPD Integrated Project Delivery, Agile Planning and Scrum. Risk Analysis in Construction. 

Main Activities

Researcher responsible for the icBench project (2005-2015). Supervisor of doctoral dissertations in the areas of Lean Construction, Public-Private Partnerships, Management of Design and Project Processes.

Other Information

Teaching and research activity since 1981. Director of Integrated MSc in Civil Engineering (2007-2010). Member of the Executive Board of FEUP (2010-2014).
Professional activity in the area of design and project management between 1982-2010. Certified Senior Project Manager Level B (Apogep/IPMA, 1999-2009).
