Current position: Assistant Professor of Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP).
Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (1999); Master in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (2002); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2012).
Main research interests/skills: Advanced modelling of the seismic behaviour of structures; seismic design of buildings; seismic safety assessment of existing constructions; risk management for existing constructions, including cultural heritage; probabilistic modelling and analysis; statistical analysis.
Main activities: Principal Investigator of 3 research projects and member of the team of 11 research projects in the fields of earthquake engineering and risk management of existing constructions and cultural heritage; supervisor and co-supervisor of 7 doctoral theses; author of more than 200 scientific and technical publications.
Other relevant information: Vice-president of ICOMOS-ICORP, the International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness of the International Council on Monuments and Sites; member of the Board of the Portuguese Society of Earthquake Engineering; representant of FEUP on the Sub-Commission of the National Civil Protection Commission; member of the UNESCO roster for culture in emergencies; member of the Structural Extreme Events Reconnaissance (StEER) Network.
