Current position: Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP); Member of the Department Council of the Department of Civil Engineering at FEUP; Member of the Scientific Committee of the Advanced Studies Course in Rehabilitation of the Edified Heritage of FEUP.

Academic Background: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1989); Master in Structures of Civil Engineering from FEUP (1993); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (1997).

Main research interests/skills: Seismic behaviour of structures; Masonry and wood structures; Rehabilitation and reinforcement of structures; Experimental and numerical analysis of structures.

Years of relevant experience: 30

Main activities developed Team member of 8 research projects in the area of ​​structural behaviour; Supervision and co-supervision of 8 doctoral theses; author and co-author of more than 200 technical and scientific publications and about 150 technical reports for public (e.g. General-Directorates, Municipalities, European commission) and private institutions. Co-author of a patent in the area of ​​the assessment of masonry structures.

Other relevant information: Organization of technical and scientific meetings, mainly in the area of ​​intervention in old structures. Creation of a spin-off company from the University of Porto in the area of ​​intervention in existing buildings.
