Personal Presentation

Luísa Costa Sousa obtained a BSc Degree in Civil Engineering from University of Porto in 1982. In 1987, she concluded the Master Degree in Structural Engineering, in the field of Mechanical Engineering, from University of Porto. In 1993, she obtained the PhD Degree also in Mechanical Engineering from the same University.
She isAssociate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of FEUP - Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto since 2020.
She is senior researcher and project coordinator at IDMEC - Pólo FEUP- Institute of Mechanical Engineering. In the last years, she has been participating in several scientific research projects, as investigator and as coordinator, and in the (co-)supervising of some MSc and PhD thesis.
She has been Member of the Scientific Committee of some national and international conferences and workshops and co-organizer of some Symposiums included in international conferences.

Luísa Costa Sousa collaborated with a Civil Engineering company, Fase, Estudos e Projectos S.A., between 1983 to 1986, participating in several structural projects.

Its main research areas include:

    Metal forming processes;
    Thermal behavior;
    Biomedical Engineering;
    Biomechanics;
    New Product Development.
