Objectives
The 1st cycle of studies in Mechanical Engineering (L.EM) is a broadband cycle of study, admittedly non-professional, reconciling:
- A thorough training in the basic sciences, namely in Mathematics, Physics and Technical drawing;
- A comprehensive training in the major scientific areas of Mechanical Engineering, with special emphasis on the areas of Solid Mechanics and Structures, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, Electricity and Automation, Materials and Technological Processes, and Production Management;
- Extensive laboratory and computational components;
- The development of transversal skills;
- Developing projects in the academic, research or business environments.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Acquisition of fundamental knowledge in basic sciences, namely in Mathematics, Physics and Technical drawing;
- Acquisition of knowledge in the major scientific areas of Mechanical Engineering, namely in Solids and Structures Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, Electricity and Automation, Technological Materials and Processes, and Production Management;
- Acquisition of computer and programming skills and experience for application across different areas of Mechanical Engineering;
- Acquisition of skills regarding communication and interaction with different audiences;
- Development of work skills in multidisciplinary teams, with personal integrity and professional ethics;
