Re-Admission - 2023/2024

Aviso: There is no definition of competitions open for this type of admission scheme.

Applicants

The Readmission regime is intended for students who, having interrupted their studies, now wish to register in the same higher education institution and cycle of studies they were previously enrolled in, or in the cycle of studies that replaced that one.

Preliminary notes:

- Bachelor students who registered in the academic year 2022/2023 and who have requested the cancellation of their enrolment may not apply for readmission in academic year 2023/2024.

- Students who have registered in the academic year 2022/2023 and who have requested the cancellation of the registration/withdrawal from the cycle of studies do not need to apply for readmission in the academic year 2023/2024. They can simply renew the registration for 2023/2024 within the deadline established for that purpose.

- In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 5 of Law 37/2003 of August 22nd, a student of the Independent Master's Degree or the Bachelor’s Degree in Mining and Geo-Environmental Engineering who has been time-barred for the year 2023/24 is prevented from applying again for this or another cycle of studies in the following two semesters.

- In accordance with Article 2 of the Regulation on periods of limitation for cycles of studies at the University of Porto, students who have been time-barred for the 2nd time in their cycle of studies cannot apply for readmission (see information about periods of limitation).

Application of students from Integrated Masters or predecessor courses

Following the provisions of Decree-Law No. 65/2018, of 16th August, from the academic year 2021/2022 onward the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto no longer has admissions/readmissions for Integrated Masters and the adaptation of these cycles of studies resulted in the creation of new Bachelors (1st cycle studies) and new Masters (2ns cycle studies).

Consequently, students from Integrated Masters or predecessor courses who have interrupted their studies and wish to resume them must apply for Readmission in only one of the new cycles of studies (Bachelor OR Master) in accordance with the following general guidelines:
  • If students have completed all the curricular units of the first three years of their study plan (i.e., have completed the Licenciatura/Bachelor in Engineering Sciences), they must apply for Readmission in the new Master that succeed the Integrated Master or predecessor course they had previously attended;
  • If students have not completed the first three years of their study plan, they must apply for Readmission in the new Bachelor that resulted from the adaptation of the Integrated Master or predecessor course they had previously attended. In this case, depending on the number of ECTS credits students have to complete in order to finish the Bachelor, they will be positioned in the Bachelor only (if they have 75 or more ECTS credits pending approval) or both in the Bachelor and in the Master (if they have less than 75 ECTS credits pending approval in the Bachelor), therefore taking advantage of the transition plan that results from the adaptation of Integrated Masters.
