Support service for foreign researchers and PhD students

If you are a researcher or PhD student at the University of Porto, you can profit from the support of the University of Porto´s EURAXESS centre in practically all matters related to your stay in Porto, including help in finding accommodation and information about scholarship possibilities.

Fulbright Portugal

The Fulbright Program is administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department, with the assistance of Bi-national Commissions and Foundations, in 51 countries and through the US Embassies services around the world, in a total of more than 150 countries.

Merit Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded by higher education institutions to students of exceptional ability, regardless of their income, according to the legislation in force. The amount of the scholarship is 5 times the minimum wage.

Working and Studying

Students who are working to finance their studies may be eligible to obtain the status of working student. This status confers a range of benefits allowing such students to reconcile the two activities. For more information, consult this page.

    Casual employment

    Part-time work can also be a way for students to obtain some funding for their expenses. Weekends and holidays are periods in which many students take the opportunity to engage in paid work.

    Within FEUP, the opportunity remains to apply to for a place in the team of technicians and hosts, run by the Events Centre, which offers support in the hundreds of events taking place at FEUP throughout the academic year.
