The Mathematics Section is responsible for teaching the courses related to the Mathematics and Engineering Methods sub-area of the Civil Engineering subject area, which integrate the study cycles supported by the DECG. Its main objective is to provide students with a solid mathematical training, oriented towards the multiple subareas of Civil Engineering, aiming at the development of scientific and mathematical reasoning skills foccus on the ability to apply mathematical concepts in problem formulation and resolution.

Its members participate in various fundamental and applied research projects, producing and disseminating knowledge in different areas of Mathematics.
