Objectives

This course unit aims to endow students with the basic skills to think strategically, to develop a specific business and corporate strategy, to understand the issues and hurdles of strategy’s implementation, in order to have a role change agent.

 

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

IOL1 - think and act strategically

IOL2 - understand the issues and hurdles of implementing a given strategy

IOL3 - design the most adequate business and corporate strategy(ies) for a specific situation and context

IOL4 - design a strategic implementation plan

IOL5 - deal with the organisational inertia and dysfunctions, and align resources into action.

Teaching methods and learning activities

A number of teaching methods are adopted:

M1. Classes of exposition of contents, methodologies and concepts

M2. Classes of preparation and discussion of practical case studies in groups

M3. Group project based activities, with class support

M4. Master Classes. During the semester, some classes will be delivered by well-known senior managers / entrepreneurs, which students have to attend.

Eligibility for exams

Case Study resolution and Group Project delivery with presentation and final report.

 
 

Calculation formula of final grade

Group Case study/Project resolution (40%) + Closed book exam (60%). In the Exam component, a minimum classification of 7,5 (out of 20) is required. In the Group Case study/Project component, intra-group evaluation will be considered.
