DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:

Content approach is done in a different order than that of the list above and it is divided between theoretical and practical classes (TP). Each learning outcomes class is presented in the previous week in the moodle platform. The digital eportefolio of each student will show the perceived learning outcomes and professional competences. The weekly evaluation of works done in each TP class will allow the analysis of the progression of the objectives of the discipline.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Face to face presentation and debate of topics in classes. Four construction site visits made on Wednesday afternoons: 16Sep15, 07Oct15, 14Oct15 and 11Nov15. Use of mandatory prevention equipment with helmet, jacket and appropriate boots. Applied work done in each TP class. Use of learning mamagement platform moodle as repository, forum and interctive channel. Use of planning programs in case studies.

DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Developing the capacity of analysis of documents and tools available through homeworks of each TP class, placing a question in each theoretical class followed by debate, report from study visits, creating a digital eportfolio and 2 test evaluations without access to materials.

Eligibility for exams

Achieving final classification requires compliance with attendance at the course unit, according to the MIEC assessment rules. It is considered that students meet the attendance requirements if, having been regularly enrolled, the number of absences of 25% for each of the classes’ types is not exceeded.

Maximum number of unjustified absences: 3 for classes T and 3 for classes TP. When there are no classes to compensate the field trips the annoucement in moodle.up.pt will be done at least one week in advance.

Calculation formula of final grade

CF = 0,25 * (CT1 + CT2) + 0,025 * (CR1 + CR2 + CR3 + CR4) + 0,05 * (CP1 + CP2 + CP3 + CP4 + CP5 + CP6 + CP7 + CP8)

All marks are in a grade of 0 to 20. Two closed tests CT1 and CT2 on 26Oct15 and 07Dec15 - 5 points each, four reports CR1 to CR4  of each visit - 0,5 point each and eight best homeworks CP1 to CP8 - 1,0 points each. Passing grade 10 points in 20 possible points.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

According to FEUP regulations.

Classification improvement

According to regulations it is possible to repeat one or two written tests.

Observations

Knowledge of Portuguese or of English language and capacity of using technical written English. Estimated working time out of classes: 4 hours All classes (T and TP) start on 15Sep14. Site visits imply the use of proper boots, hardhat and identifying jacket. Hardhats may be borrowed in DEC. Previous knowledge: construction management, construction safety, economic basic principles, operations research basic principles. Average weekly studying time of 3 hours per week.
