Students are expected to: (a) explain the concepts and the main models of information management, (b)develop an information system that take advantages from organizacional information resources and capabilities,(c) demonstrate the value of information in organizations, (d) create strategic plans for information management, (e) identify risks associated with the use of ICT in the management of information resources.
1- Management and manager of information:1.1- Origin and Foundations of information management in the organizational context; 1.2 The information manager: 1.2.1-Profile and competences.
2. Management and information systems: 2.1- Stages of information management and information lifecycle; 2.2 – Models of information management and information systems, 2.3 - Functions, activities and components of the information system.
3 - The information value in an organizational context: 3.1- Conceptual bases, 3.2- Information as an asset in an organization, 3.3 - Measure of information quality in activities performances of an organization:3.3.1 – Cost- Benefit, 3.3.2 – Cost – Effectiveness – Efficiency – Value.
4 - The strategic management of information in organizations: 4.1 – Background and objectives, 4.2 - Building systems to capture strategic information and business advantage, 4.3 - Risk management.
5 - New perspectives and challenges in information management.
Formal lectures of the subjects in class using projections. The practical component of the course is based mainly on the resolution of practical cases from different types of organizations
Distributed evaluation with final exam.

Minimum grade in DE - 7,5
AD = 50% of the grade. Seven work groups will be developed. Each work group has different weights. The remaining 50% derived from written examination.
The evaluation component 'Work' requires that participants work in groups of 3. Members of the same group may be graded differently.
Working students and all other exceptions are not exempted from submission of all assessment elements, following the assessment rules as regular students.
Students may improve their mark by: repeating the exam (theoretical component); presenting a new paper in the next year about (practical component).
