Objectives
Students are encouraged to produce creative projects and objects that will lead to the familiarisation with the photographic and cinematographic language, which will be assimilated during the critical viewing of photography, films and reference films extracts.
The formulation of formal and coherent choices for those objects will be the central subjects of discussion during the development of individual projects.
Program
Students will analyse, under professor’s supervision, some pictures, films and film extracts – from different ages, genres and origins. Thus, students will acquire critical tools and resources which will enable them to design, execute and finish the objects of their portfolios.
Simultaneously students will be familiar with some remarkable and problematic seasons of the past and future of cinema and photography.
Teaching methods and learning activities
Students should actively participate in class, by giving presentations on specific works and participate in the discussion of colleagues’ and professor’s presentations. Presentations will be defined and scheduled in the first class.
Before the development of the portfolio, students will be asked to carry out preparatory assignments.
Students have to produce a portfolio composed by 12 pictures and a short film (4 to 10 minutes) complemented by visual documents, which explain the inspiration to both elements.
The portfolio should also comprise a short report/balance on the stages, difficulties and discoveries related to the creative and critical process.
