DEMONSTRATION OF THE SYLLABUS COHERENCE WITH THE CURRICULAR UNIT'S OBJECTIVES:
The programmatic contents are divided in four parts that ensure the objectives of the curricular unit. There is consistency because:
The first objective: - Provide students with a deep knowledge on the subject of urban policies – is in coherence with the thematic diversity. The second main objective - Provide students with advanced R&D skills and competences on the subject – cuts across the various thematic and its coherence is ensured through the combined presentation and analysis of theoretical explanations with conceptual and real-case discussions.
The third main objective - Develop criteria and capacity for analysis, interpretation and comparison of urban policies experiences, in different spatial and national context - is in coherence with the presentation of specific experiences and case studies which are mainly ensured in the urban regeneration thematic.
Teaching methods: lectures combining theoretical explanations with conceptual and real-case discussions.
Evaluation methods: home assignment and written final exam.
DEMONSTRATION OF THE COHERENCE BETWEEN THE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES AND THE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Taking into account the objectives of the course the teaching methodology adopted combines the theoretical exposition of materials with the analysis of real and paradigmatic study cases. The technical visits to some these study cases (when located in Portugal) will, in terms of objectives, contextualize the training of students in the reality of contemporary urban issues, expanding their technical knowledge in these issues, duly complemented by theoretical knowledge and the scientific approach in the classes. The bibliographic material essential for learning (books and journal articles) as well as the methods and teaching tools provided by FEUP (CICA) - audiovisual technologies for new models of teaching online support, will be previously available for students, especially those that have to support the development of the case studies provided.
