Teaching methods and learning activities
This course is at the introductory level with major emphasis on inducing mathematical intuition in the student by intertwining theoretical knowledge with its applications on subjects appearing on following-up courses. At this level, it is stimulated a intuituive comprehension as well as computational abilities. Subjects are introduced objectively and smoothly in theoretical classes making regular use of examples coming from other areas as for instance, Physics, Mechanics and Structure Theory.

Eligibility for exams
The number of allowed unattended classes is defined by law 4º-nº1 (25% of the foreseen total of tutorial classes).
Calculation formula of final grade
The classification is based in two examinations T1 e T2.
The final classification is
F=0,4T1+0,6T2,where T1=20 e T2=20
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Final Exam.
SPECIAL RULES FOR MOBILITY STUDENTS:
Proficiency in Portuguese and/or English; Previous attendance of introductory graduate courses in the scientific field addressed in this module; Evaluation by exam and/or coursework(s) defined in accordance with student profile.
Classification improvement
Under law regulation in nr. 2 of Article 10th of general rules of avaliation.
Observations
The students may consult the discipline page where there will be some notes about matrices, linear systems, vector spaces, linear transformations, euclidean spaces, eighenvectors and eigenvalues of a linear transformation,
quadrics forms and analytic geometry. For other hand there notices about the discipline in this page like the bibliography and some links to
some ebooks of linear algebra in english.
The notes are in advance in sifeup algebra contents, because it is easier to put them in the Sifeup than in the discipline page.
