Apresentação Pessoal

I am a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEMec), specifically in the Automation, Instrumentation and Control Section (SAIC). In addition, I am a researcher at the Systems and Technology Research Centre (SYSTEC), more specifically at the Laboratory for Digitalization and Intelligent Industry (DIGI2), where I coordinate the Robotics, Interaction and Collaboration (RIC) team.

In the past, I have also been a guest lecturer at FEUP's Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) and Informatics and Computer Engineering (DEI), as well as at ISEP's Department of Electrical Engineering.

The areas where I have more research interest are in the context of Robotics and Systems, namely in applications in mobile and manipulation robotics. At the moment I am particularly dedicated to three sub-areas:

• Hybrid Locomotion Robotic Systems;
• Manipulation with Robotic Hands;
• Educational Robotics.

I have also interest in the following fields:

• Robotic Competitions;
• 3d Printing;
• Actuation and Sensoring;

I teach/have taught courses in the areas of Autonomous Robotic Systems, Microprocessor Based Systems, Computer Architectures, Information Systems, Programming and Electric Machines. Besides that I am/was involved in the supervision team of 2 PhD Theses, 24 MSc Thesis and 8 Graduation Projects.

As a researcher I have also worked in the area of marine robotics, namely on autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). I have co-authored more than 50 publications, which can be checked in any of the links on the left.
