R&D activity: Joana Maia started the R&D activity in 2011, participating in 6 national projects related to the development and testing of new construction products and hygrothermal conditions on human life quality, as a full-time researcher. Joana Maia is working on an international Research Project “Circular2B" financed by the Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy Programme within the scope of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism EEA Grants 2014-2021, with a focus on the development of new materials for SIP panels incorporating functionally equivalent materials, such as plastics, C&D wastes and slag. She is the author of 16 scientific papers (ISI and Scopus database). She has participated in more than 30 publications in proceedings of international and national congresses and was awarded by the Excellence Initiative of the TU Dresden, Journal of Materials Science and Buildings 2024 Travel Award. She is a reviewer of international peer-reviewed journal papers and editor of Special Issues. She was co-supervisor of Master and Bachelor Dissertations in Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto.
