R&D activity: Joana Maia started the R&D activity in 2011, participating in several R&D projects related to the development and testing of new construction products, hygrothermal conditions on human life quality and eco-innovative building products as a full-time researcher. Joana Maia recently won a research contract on the very competitive international Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus - 6th Edition, 1st position in the Civil Engineering Scientific Area with BInCircular - Building façades as Innovative Circular solutions from a durability perspective. She is the author of more than 20 scientific papers (indexed in SCIE, SCOPUS and Web of Science). She has participated in more than 30 publications in proceedings of international and national congresses and was awarded by the Excellence Initiative of the TU Dresden, Journal of Materials Science and Buildings 2024 Travel Award. She was awarded 5 Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Flow. She is a reviewer of international peer-reviewed journal papers, editor of Special Issues and Managing Editor of the Construction and Building Materials Journal - Elsevier. She has been a teacher and supervisor since 2019 in Civil Engineering courses.
