Current position: Invited Full Professor of Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP); Member of the Board of Directors and Principal Researcher of National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC); Member of the Scientific Council of LNEC; Vice President of Portuguese Geotechnical Society.

Education: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1991); Master in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (1994); PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2005); Executive Master in Project Management by ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (2008); MSc in Business Administration from ISCTE (2009); Habilitation in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2018).

Main research interests/skills: Transportation infrastructures (design, build, renewal, characterization, monitoring, modelling and analysis of the behaviour); Physical and numerical modelling of the mechanical behaviour of geomaterials; Laboratory and "in situ” characterization of geomaterials; Asset management.

Years of relevant experience: 25

Main activities: Principal Investigator of 14 research projects and member of the team of 13 research projects; supervisor of 4 doctoral theses; author of more than 400 scientific and technical publications.
