Academic Background: Degree in Civil Engineering from FEUP (1996); Master's Degree in Civil Engineering Structures from FEUP (1998) with the thesis entitled “Passive and active control of vibrations on pedestrian bridges”; PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Porto (2007) with the thesis entitled “Control of vibrations in Civil Engineering Structures”.
Main research interests: Structural dynamics; Control of vibrations in structures; Structural monitoring; Tests on bridges and building floors; Laboratory tests; Sensor development; "Internet Of Things" (IOT) based devices. Main activities: Researcher responsible for 2 research projects and member of the team of 12 other research projects; Author of 65 articles indexed at Scopus with 1036 citations, h-index = 16, about one hundred articles in national and international conferences, and more than 50 technical reports; Responsible for over 40 service contracts to the industry; Supervision of 6 PhD theses and several Master and Integrated Master theses in the areas of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering; Development of laboratory equipment for dynamic and static tests; Development of several instrumented models related to teaching activities; Development of different types of sensors and installation of dynamic monitoring systems in several long-span bridges and special structures.
