Note: Provisional information. Approval pending. 

Holders of the special examinations designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old, in accordance with Order No. 15229/2006, of 14th July, may apply for admission under this regime, within the respective exams' validity period.

Notes:

1 - The examinations are valid for application for enrolment and registration in the year they are successfully taken and in the three subsequent academic years.

2 - If you have not yet taken the special examinations designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old, you may consult further information here. The period for applications for taking the special examinations will take place from March 31st to May 16th 2025.

3 - Applicants covered by the international student status, in accordance with Article 3 of Decree-Law No. 62/2018, of August 6th, amended by Decree-Law No. 20/2025, of March 18th (only available in Portuguese), and Article 1 of Regulation 664/2018, of October 16th - Implementing regulation of the international student status at the University of Porto, cannot apply under this regime.

4 - Only applicants with a grade equal to, or higher than, 9.5 (out of 20) in the special examinations designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old will be admitted, except in the following cycles of studies:

Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering (L.AERO): grade equal to, or higher than, 13 (out of 20);
- Bachelor in Industrial Engineering and Management (L.EGI): grade equal to, or higher than, 14 (out of 20);
- Bachelor in Electrical and Computers Engineering (L.EEC): grade equal to, or higher than, 12 (out of 20);
- Bachelor in Informatics and Computing Engineering (L.EIC): grade equal to, or higher than, 14 (out of 20).
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (L.EM): grade equal to, or higher than, 13 (out of 20).

Military staff members who have rendered a minimum of one year of effective service under Regime de Contrato (Contract System) or four years of effective service under Regime de Contrato Especial (Special Contract System) have priority access to 2.5% of the places made available in accordance with Decree-Law No. 76/2018, of October 11th, provided they cumulatively comply with the following:
- meet the requirements set out in article 2 of the Regulation concerning the special examinations designed to assess the ability to attend the University of Porto for applicants over 23 years old (only available in Portuguese);
- have never been enrolled in a public higher education institution.

*The eventual call of non-placed applicants will be made by e-mail sent to the address indicated on the application process. Applicants who are called will have 24 hours to reply and say whether they are interested in the place available. After this deadline, and if there is no reply from the applicant called, this applicant will lose the chance to occupy the place available and the following non-placed applicant in the ranking list will be called.

Ranking Criteria

Final grade of the examinations designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old: 100%.

Only applicants with an application grade of 95 points or higher (0-200 scale) will be admitted, except in the following cycles of studies:

Bachelor in Aerospace Engineering (L.AERO): application grade equal to, or higher than, 130 points (out of 200);
Bachelor in Industrial Engineering and Management (L.EGI): application grade equal to, or higher than, 140 points (out of 200);
Bachelor in Electrical and Computers Engineering (L.EEC): application grade equal to, or higher than, 120 points (out of 200);
Bachelor in Informatics and Computing Engineering (L.EIC): application grade equal to, or higher than, 140 points (out of 200).
Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (L.EM): application grade equal to, or higher than, 130 points (out of 200).


Tie-breaking criterion
In the event of a tie, priority will be given to applicants who have obtained approval in the said examinations longer ago.

Documents Required

  • ID document (Citizen Card / ID Card / Passport) or declaration containing the identification data (mandatory);
  • Certificate of approval on the examinations designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for applicants over 23 years old (mandatory);
    Obs.:
    - In case you have taken the examinations at FEUP, you may submit a document with your name, the year in which you have taken the examinations and the corresponding final grade.
  • Declaration of honour stating that the applicant does not have qualifications for admission to higher education regarding the intended cycle of studies (mandatory);
  • Curriculum vitae (mandatory);
  • Photo (optional).

Fees

Application for admission under this regime is subject to the payment of a non-refundable fee of 55 euros.

Procedure to pay through one of the payment methods available in the current account (ATM references, MBWay or Visa or Mastercard credit card):
1. Click on the image  associated to the amount you wish to pay.
2. In the UP's payment portal you should select the payment method you want to use and proceed in accordance with the instructions of the chosen method until the payment is successfully made

In the case of payments made from abroad and if it is not possible to use one of the methods mentioned above, you may exceptionally make a bank transfer, with the expenses on behalf of the payer, using the data in the linked document. In this case, you should send the proof of bank transfer to tesouraria@fe.up.pt, with the following data:
name of the payer and name of the applicant, as well as indication of the purpose of the payment (application).

Note:
- After the deadline for submission of applications, any applications regarding which fees have not been paid will be rejected outright.

Procedures

Procedure for submission of application
  1. Choose the intended cycle of studies/course and access regime (Applications).
  2. Select "Apresentar candidatura" (Submit application). If you are already a student at FEUP, you will have to log in using your student’s username and password. If you are not a student at FEUP, you will be asked to complete a user registration form. The credentials (username and password) will be sent to the email address you specify on that form. For technical reasons, it is not advisable to use Hotmail or Yahoo e-mail addresses.
  3. Fill in the application form and attach the requested documents. Please note that fields in red are mandatory.
  4. Submit your application. If an error is detected (e.g. mandatory fields left blank), the system displays an alert message.
    If the information is successfully submitted, you must check all data entered and either confirm or edit the data.
  5. After confirmation of your application submission you will see information regarding the payment of the corresponding fee. For payments made from abroad, please check the information available in the Fees section (see above).
  6. If you have encountered any problems while submitting your application, you must report them to ingresso@fe.up.pt during the application submission period or on the working day following the deadline for submission.
Procedure for checking the status of your application
  1. Log into the information system with the username and password that you used in your application;
  2. Click on your name;
  3. Select the academic year of the application(s) you submitted;
  4. In the options that appear on the right hand side of the page, select "Candidaturas de Ingresso" (Applications).
Procedure to request credit transfer/recognition
  1. Credit transfer/recognition request (optional) is subject to the non-refundable payment of the fees set-out in Table of fees of the University of Porto.
  2. If you wish to create a credit transfer request, in the field "You want to make a request for recognition" of the application form, select "Yes".
  3. In the options on the right hand side of the page, under "Reconhecimentos" (Credit transfer), select "Criar/Editar" (Create/Edit) and enter the request.
  4. After creating the credit transfer/recognition request, you must complete and submit the application.
Procedure for enrolment
This procedure will be available through a link on the homepage of FEUP at the beginning of the enrolment period.
