Abstract (EN):
The present work refers to on experimental tests and a parametric study in four series of
reinforced concrete slabs. Reference RC specimens, of minimum reinforcement (series MIN) and
twice this (series N), are compared with strengthened specimens externally bonded with two
unidirectional carbon-fibre-reinforced-systems (CFRP), an “in situ” cured system - prepreg sheets
(series M) - and a prefabricated system - laminate (series L). RC slabs with or without
pre-cracking of concrete are analysed. Strengthened specimen series (L and M) were designed to
have similar resistant capacity to the reference RC specimen series (N). After discussion of
results conclusions are put forward with regard to the behaviour of RC strengthened with CFRP
as a solution to a practical problem.
