2 Research Grant Announcement – Master (M/F)
Call open for applications for two research grant - Master within the framework of project “Safe Cities - Innovation for Building Urban Safety co-financed /financed by the Fundo Europeu de Desenvolvimento Regional (FEDER), through the Programa Operacional Competitividade e Internacionalização (COMPETE 2020) and Portugal 2020 with the reference POCI-01-0247-FEDER-041435 under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Computer Science, Informatics, Network and Information Systems Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering
Admission requirements: Masters degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Network and Information Systems Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related area.
Hiring Requirements: If the degree has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018, the candidate who will be placed in a place eligible for hiring in the approved final ordination of the present application process. tender, have a non-extendable period of 10 working days, from the notification of the approved final ordination, to present, at the FCUP Human Resources Unit, the necessary documentation for the conclusion of the contract.

Activity Outline: The work to be done concerns the research and development of mobile applications for indoor localization, ad hoc communications, and emergency evacuation of buildings. The tasks to be performed involve design and development of software and algorithms. This work also involves coordination with external partners who will work on the project.

Work place: The work will developed at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), under the scientific supervision of Professors Luís Lopes, Rui Prior, and Sérgio Crisóstomo and on an exclusive basis.
Grant duration: Initial duration of 6 months, with beginning on november 2019, eventually renewable up to the end of the project.
Maintenance allowance amount : The grant stipend amounts to 989,70¤ according to the table of values of the grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.Voluntary Social Insurance: As long as the scholarship is for a duration of 6 months or more, and in compliance with the provisions of article 10 of Law 40/2004, the grantee shall be entitled to the assumption by FCUP of the charges resulting from contributions levied on the first of the echelons referred to in article 36 of Decree-Law no. 40/89, of 1 February, with the addition of charges arising from the option for a higher tax base.
Selection procedure:
-- Curricular analysis (70%)
(a) MSc degree in the area (10 points), MSc degree in a related area (up to 10 points).
(b) Research experience in ad hoc wireless communication networks, indoor localization, mobile applications, graph algorithms (up to 10 points).
(c) Publications (up to 10 points).
