1 Research Grant - Postdoc (M/F)
Post-doctoral research grants can only be awarded if the following requirements are cumulatively met:
PhD in Computer Science, Informatics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related area, obtained in the three years prior to the date of submission of the application for this scholarship;
The post-doctoral research is carried out in a host entity that is distinct from the entity where the research work which led to the award of the doctorate degree was carried out, having to comply with the provisions of Regulation No. 950/2019 of 29 November, article 7, nº.3 point b), nº 4 and nº 5.
The candidate does not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, an accumulated period of three years in this type of scholarship, consecutive or interpolated.
If the degree has been awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of the Decree-Law no. 66/2018, of august 16th, and any formalities established there must be fulfilled until the time of signing the contract.
The candidate who will obtain a place placed in an eligible place for the final approved contracting of the present bidding process, will run an non-extendable period of 10 working days, counted from the notification of the final approved final ordering, for presentations, at the FCUP Human Resources, requests the conclusion of the contract.
Failure to comply with the provisions of the preceding paragraph determines the exclusion from the contest.
Work plan: The work to be done concerns the research and development of mobile applications for indoor localization, ad hoc communications, and emergency evacuation of buildings. The tasks to be performed involve design and development of software and algorithms, as well as the technical coordination of junior researchers in these areas. This work also involves coordination with external partners who will work on the project.

The tasks can be adjusted depending on its feasibility in the project. All changes implying the grant holder´s work in other tasks will be submitted to prior approval of the funding authority – AICEP.)
Legislation and regulations: Law Nº. 40/2004, of 18th August, in its current wording (Statutes of Scientific Research Fellow) and Regulation of Research Grants of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, in force ( https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt).

Work place: The work will developed at the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), under the scientific supervision of Professors Luís Lopes, Rui Prior, and Sérgio Crisóstomo and on an exclusive basis..
Grant duration: Initial duration of 6 months, with beginning on May 2020, eventually renewable up to the end of the project, and cannot exceed the limit of 3 years.
According to the provisions of Article 7, nº7, once this Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship contract has ended, you cannot have a new scholarship contract with FCUP.
The grant stipend amounts to 1600,00¤ according to the table of values of the grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the Country (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.phtml.pt ) Payment will be made by bank transfer.
Voluntary Social Insurance: As long as the scholarship lasts 6 months or more, and in compliance with the provisions of article 10 of Law no. 40/2004, the scholarship holder will be entitled to assume, by FCUP, the charges resulting from contributions that apply to the first of the steps referred to in article 36 of Decree-Law no. 40/89, of 1 February, with the increase in charges arising from the option for a higher incidence base on its own.
In addition to this allowance, the fellow will be covered by personal accident insurance.
Selection procedure: The selection methods to be used are as follows:
Curricular analysis (includes: scientific publications; thesis supervision; research experience in ad hoc wireless networks, indoor localization, mobile applications, and graph algorithms; participation in research projects in the same scientific domain as the work plan for this vacancy) – 70%
Interview – 30%. Only candidates with a positive curriculum evaluation will be invited for an interview.The jury reserves the right not to award the scholarship in competition if the result of the evaluation of the applications and their suitability for the project's objectives is not satisfactory.
