Entry and Admission Requirements

1. The entry and enrolment of international students in all first cycle of studies courses (undergraduate degrees), except for those who are admitted under the special conditions referred to in Decree-Law no. 393-A/99 and in case of Reinstatement or Changing to a different institution/course pair, will be carried out exclusively through the special contest of entry and admission as established in Decree-Law no. 36/2014 of 10 March, in Decree-Law no. 62/2018 of 06 August and in the UP Regulations. Admission is also subject to meeting the general access conditions set forth in article 5 of said Decree-Law and the approval in the admission tests for these candidates as provided for in article 6 of the same Decree-Law.

2. The candidate must provide proof of the qualifications indicated in number 1 of "Recipients" by presenting:
   1. A statement issued by the corresponding official educational services from the country of origin, if necessary, translated into English, attesting that the secondary school qualifications obtained fulfil that country’s requirements to apply to similar higher education courses, or a certificate awarding the candidates’ qualifications recognition to Portuguese secondary education issued by the competent national authorities.
   2. Copies of the original documents authenticated by the official educational services of the respective country of origin and certified by the Portuguese diplomatic or consular authority, or with the Hague Apostille, for countries which are signatories of the Hague Convention upon submission of an application with foreign documents or documents issued abroad.
   3. The original documents referred to in the previous paragraphs if such action is required by the faculty or in the Contest notice upon enrolment or before the beginning of the academic year.

3. The specific admission conditions for the first cycle of studies at FCUP are:
   1. The verification of the specific academic qualifications required for admission to the cycle of studies, which will focus on the subjects of the admission tests for the cycle of studies in question under the general access and admission regime, in order to ensure that only students who demonstrate possessing the same level of knowledge in the subjects of the admission tests as the students admitted through the Portuguese general access and admission regime will be admitted.
   2. The verification of the knowledge in the language(s) in which the cycle of studies is taught. If necessary, the speaking skills will be tested by videoconference.

4. The verification of the conditions in paragraphs (a) and (b) will be carried out by examining the substantiating documents submitted by the candidate at the time of application or, if applicable, by taking written exams at the faculty the candidate is applying to and, if necessary, complemented by oral examinations or practical tests.

5. The documentary evidence of a particular academic qualification must correspond to one of three situations, all of which satisfy the requirements:
   1. The candidate has taken the corresponding admission exams for higher education in the country of origin.
   2. The candidate has taken the corresponding exams to conclude secondary education in the country of origin.
   3. The candidate has attended the corresponding subjects in the final stage of his/her secondary education in the country of origin.

Situations 1) and 2) do not require taking further tests at FCUP. In situation 3) such tests will be required depending on the level of knowledge in such subjects and the grades obtained by the candidate.
