Abstract (EN):
A tensile testing machine built that could be freely used by the students in the laboratory for testing polymeric specimens gathered from common-use objects is discussed. The design of the testing machine comprised four key components mainly a set of two grips, a motor, a force sensor and a displacement sensor. The students perform the tests by gathering the materials and analyzing the results both qualitatively and quantitatively, computing different parameters from the measured data. The in-house-built tensile testing machine proved to be an economic tool for allowing students to test the mechanical behavior of different polymeric materials.
