The Academic Affairs Office operates within the scope of administration, management, and support of both degree-awarding and non-degree-awarding programmes offered by ICBAS. It is structured into the Undergraduate Unit and the Postgraduate and Continuing Education Unit. |
| Description: |
The responsibilities of the Academic Affairs Office include:
- Defining procedures and carrying out all actions related to applications, admission processes, enrolment, registration, attendance, completion, and other academic procedures for all study cycles and non-degree programmes;
- Recording, in digital format, all actions pertaining to students’ academic records, and maintaining updated archives and databases of individual student files;
- Monitoring the payment of tuition fees and other related charges;
- Managing the processes for credit transfer and degree recognition, in coordination with the respective secretariats;
- Providing all necessary information to support decision-making by the Executive Council regarding student matters, and ensuring compliance with reporting obligations to the University of Porto, the Ministry of Higher Education, and official statistical bodies;
- Overseeing all matters related to academic management, including the certification of academic degrees;
- Providing academic information, particularly concerning special student statuses and regimes, part-time studies, assessment regulations, academic prescriptions, awards, and merit scholarships, among others;
- Performing any other duties assigned to it.
The Undergraduate Unit is responsible for all functions of the Academic Affairs Office related to first-cycle programmes and integrated master’s degrees.
The Postgraduate and Continuing Education Unit is responsible for all functions related to second- and third-cycle programmes, as well as non-degree-awarding courses.
