Objectives
This Course has the objective of conducting a literature search leading to a monograph focused on the state of the art in a specific field.
Learning outcomes and competences
Skills needed for:
1. Bibliographical search on the topic.
2. Elaboration of a written work on the subject, in the form of a review article.
3. Presentation and discussion of the work

Program
This course does not include a common program to be met by all students. Each student will have an individual work program, which will motivate them to acquire knowledge in a number of relevant topics under the chosen dissertation topic, that will be deepened over this course and subsequent dissertation, which will give it continuity. In fulfilling this work plan, the student will be accompanied by his supervisor.
The supervisor must be a professor or doctoral researcher with a relevant activity in the area of Molecular Bioengineering. Before starting the preparation work of the monograph, the student must submit their proposals during the first week of the semester, stating:
Theme; Summary of the work plan; Direct advisor (with link to his/her ORCID); Laboratory / Group / company where the project will be carried out (with link to the web page of the project)
Thecoordinators in charge of the UC will decide on the acceptance of the proposal of the students during the second week of the semester.
In case students can not send the above elements within the indicated deadline should contact the coordinators immediately.
In all emails to send to the coordinators, the students must place the following in the subject space: "MBio-Monografia 2024/2025"
After approval of the topic and the supervision students can start working.

Teaching methods and learning activities
The monograph consists of individual work done under supervision. The student must submit a written work, in the form of a review article on the state of the art, in English, with a length not exceeding 15 pages (including images, references and work plan). Formatting of the monograph should follow the usual styles used in review articles. The formatting of the references should be in accordance with the APA style (http://www.apastyle.org). The sections to be included are specific to each topic and can not be generalized.
The monograph document must be submitted in PDF format and through the Moodle platform.
The deadline for submitting the final version of the monograph is the 12th January 2025.
