Present the basic concepts regarding the design and characterisation of nano(materials/particles) with specific applications in the area of nanomedicine
Develop knowledge and capacities in the design and characterization of nano(materials/particles) with specific applications in nanomedicine.
• Medical applications of Nanotechnology
• Characterisation of surfaces and particles on a nano scale: electron and X-ray diffraction techniques, electron spectroscopies and microscopies. Electrical, optical and magnetic properties of nanomaterials.
• Nanofabrication techniques:
o Surface nano standardisation by lithography, etching and replication techniques
o Chemical synthesis and self-assembly materials
o Nanoparticles (polymeric and dendritic nanoparticles; peptides and hybrid metal-organic nanoparticles)
o Nanowires and nanotubes
• Systems for diagnosis (nanoarrays/nanoparticles)
Expository lessons and presentation classes with the discussion of topics by the students. Visits to research labs which use the experimental techniques of interest are also schedule.
