Apresentação Pessoal
Salomé Gomes got a first degree in Pharmacy in 1993 and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 1999, both from Universidade do Porto. She visited the Rockefeller University in New York and Faculté Xavier-Bichat in Paris, as part of her training.
She is a Professor at ICBAS since 2001, where she teaches Microbiology to different courses.
Salomé Gomes leads the research group "Host Targets of Infection" at i3S. Her research activity focuses on the interaction of mycobacteria and other pathogens with their hosts, namely on the mechanisms of innate immune response, the impact of infection in the host’s iron metabolism and the role of macrophages in these processes. Additionally, she contributes to the development and testing of new compounds with anti-bacterial activity.
