Current Position (U. Porto):Associated Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS), since 2015.
Academic qualifications (U. Porto):Aggregation in Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) in 2018; PhD in Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) in 1996; Graduation in Pharmaceutical Sciences (FFUP) in 1991.
Beginning
of university career:In 1992 she obtained a PhD scholarship (current FCT) entitled "Study of Fish Reproduction" developed in the Laboratory of Physiology (orientation by Professor Maria Armanda Reis Henriques). She started teaching in 10/1994, as a Trainee Assistant of the Licenciatura course, current Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences, at the Higher Institute of Health Sciences - North (ISCS-N).
Teaching activity at ICBAS (U. Porto):Environmental Toxicology (LCMA); Aquatic Animal Physiology (LCMA); Cell Biology (Histology Block, MIB); Environmental Human Toxicology (MIM); Histology (MIM); Aquatic Toxicology & Aquatic Animal Endocrinology - Master in Marine Sciences - Marine Resources.
Current research interests:Development of new analytical techniques for the evaluation of emerging environmental pollutants (emphasis on natural and synthetic hormones, pharmaceutical compounds, PAHs, PCBs and pesticides).
In vivo and
in vitro studies for the evaluation of the effects resulting from the exposure of aquatic organisms to the toxic agents referred above. Determination of mechanisms and effects of endocrine disrupters and other anthropogenic xenobiotics, especially at the level of the liver and fish gonads. She was PI of 6 research projects and member of the research team of 18 other projects, both from FCT.
International publications and h-index:> 80 articles in indexed international journals. h-index = 24.
