Objectives
- To learn the cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms, underlying the functional aspects of the human body;
- To know the normal function of the different organs and systems of the human body taught in the curricular unit;
- To understand the interaction between the different organs and systems of the human body as well as the mechanisms of their adaptation to changes in the environment.
- To establish the basis for understanding the changes in the homeostasis and also the mechanisms and manifestations of disease.
- To learn the changes of the human body associated with growing, development and aging.
- To acquire a base of knowledge to use in the several physiological areas and to apply later in the other curricular units of the course and in the future clinical practice.
Learning outcomes and competences
1. Problem solving capacities.
2. Critical thinking.
3. Practical assessment of the function of the various organs and systems.
4. Establish the basis for preparing a scientific work.
5. Identification of physiologic problems in selected clinical cases.

Eligibility for exams
In order to be admited to examination, the student has to be present in 3/4 of the lectures.
Calculation formula of final grade
0,20*P + 0,80*T
1 . Theoretical-practical and Practical Assessment (P): . Assessment by teachers during theoretical-practical and practical sessions The practical mark weight is 20% of the final classification (see formula).
2. Theoretical assessment (T): Accomplished in the form of a written test, represents 80% of the final classification. The theoretical assessment test is composed by 80 multiple choice questions. The minimum mark is 9.5.
Examinations or Special Assignments
Additional appreciation test: voluntary work that aims to complement the assessment and enhance scientific research, writing, oral presentation and synthesis skills. This work must select a topic within any of the areas of Physiology. The evaluation criteria will be available on the Moddle platform.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Students with special assessment must attend the week of general assessments, in any of the classes, on a date to be agreed.
Classification improvement
In case of improvement in classification, the student will only be able to repeat the theoretical exam.
