Abstract (EN):
The high specific diversity and the distribution of the species are the main consequence of the intrincate orography of the northern Portugal. The taxonomic and environmental characterization for the therteen species of the genus Medicago present in the north of Portugal: M. arabica, M. doliata, M. intertexta, M. littoralis, M. lupulina, M. marina, M. minima, M. orbicularis, M. polymorpha, M. rigidula, M. sativa, M. italica y M. truncatula, eight of them: M. doliata, M. intertexta, M. littoralis, M. marina, M orbicularis, M. rigidula, M. italica y M. truncatula with an apparent environmental-distribution correlation because of the climatic and topographic conditions, are the goal of the present work. In order to describe this behaviour, the distribution of species is correlated with bioclimatic sectors and their altitudinal intervals.
