Renato Ferreira da Silva is a Pharmacist recognized by the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, holding a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (MPharm) from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, Portugal.

Currently, he works as a Drug Safety Researcher at the Porto Pharmacovigilance Centre, and as an Invited Assistant in the Department of Community Medicine, Information, and Health Decision Sciences at Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), teaching in the fields of digital health, evidence synthesis, research methods, biostatistics, data and decision analysis, evidence evaluation in health, and decision-making. Additionally, Renato holds the position of FCT PhD Fellow in the Clinical and Health Services Research doctoral program at FMUP. He is also an integrated researcher within the PharmaHTA research group - Therapeutics, Pharmacovigilance & Hypertension Diagnosis at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS R&D).

Renato's research primarily focuses on clinical research, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical epidemiology, and evidence synthesis, with a particular emphasis on conducting post-marketing surveillance studies to assess the safety and effectiveness of medications. He is actively involved in designing, planning, and conducting various clinical research studies, utilising his expertise in analysing real-world data. His doctoral research is centred on the pattern, safety and effectiveness of medications used during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighted by his role as lead investigator for the ESOA-19 study.

He is the author or co-author of more than 40 scientific publications, of which about 30 are peer-reviewed, full-text scientific articles in indexed national and international journals with an impact factor. He regularly acts as an ad hoc reviewer for various scientific journals.

Renato Ferreira da Silva is an active member of several professional and scientific organizations, including the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society, the Portuguese Society of Healthcare Pharmacists in their specialized sections of Research & Clinical Trials, and Regulatory Affairs & Quality, the Portuguese Association of Young Pharmacists, and the Real-World Evidence and Big Data Group of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance.
