Apresentação Pessoal

Alysson Roncally Silva Carvalho. Completed Doctorate in Doctor in Science in Biomedical Engineering in 12/06/2006 at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Master in Science in Biomedical Engineering in 2003/04/04 at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, a Degree in Physiotherapy in 2000/06/01 by the Brazilian Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and a Master's Degree in Medicine in 2020/08/19 at the University of Grande Rio School of Health Sciences, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a researcher, since 2009, I am an accredited advisor of the Program of Cellular Physiology and Biophysics and of the Biomedical Engineering Program of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, being responsible for supervising 12 master's dissertations and 10 doctoral theses, with 4 MSc and 6 PhD in the last 5 years. In addition, I published about 56 articles, 26 in the last 5 years, in indexed international journals (JCR).

From 2014 to 2019, I coordinated, as the main researcher, grants for five research projects supported by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil) and by the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ, Brazil).
As a teacher, from 2001 to 2009, I worked as an assistant professor at the Estácio de Sá University (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) teaching biomechanics, physiology and physiology of exercise to undergraduate courses in Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine. From 2009 to 2019, I was hired at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro developing activities as an associate professor of Respiratory Physiology in the courses of

graduation in Medicine, Biophysics and Physiotherapy. In addition, I was responsible for Advanced Topics in Pulmonary Engineering in the master's and doctorate course at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Every semester since 2009, I was the coordinating professor of each course, both in undergraduate and graduate courses in Biomedical Engineering and in the Biophysics Departments.

Since 2009, I have been invited as a speaker at symposia and conferences promoted by intensive care, anesthesia and pulmonology societies, both in Brazil (AMIB, SOTIERJ, SBPT) and abroad (ATS, ESICM, ASA and ESA conference).
I completed the Undergraduate Course in Medicine at UNIGRANRIO University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and did an official exchange at ICBAS, University of Porto, where I defended an Integrated Master in Medicine in June 2020.
I have extensive experience in Biomedical Engineering, focusing on processing medical signals and images, pulmonary engineering, mathematical modeling of biological systems, physiology of breathing and pathology. I have work in chest computed tomography, nuclear medicine in the chest, ventilatory support in intensive care and anaesthesia, pulmonary inflammation and infection, interstitial lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and, more recently, in the characterisation of pulmonary nodules.
