VitaeMafalda Sousa completed the PhD in Neuroscience in 2014 by the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto, after a master degree in Computational Methods in Science and Engineering in 2006 by Faculty engineering of University of Porto and BSc Mathematics Applied to Technology in 2003 by Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto. In recent years, health research, teaching and computer technology have been part of her professional career. In 2018 she completed the curricular part of a master course on Software Engineer Instituto Politécnico do Porto. Her training in mathematics complemented with computational neuroscience and software engineering allowed the development of specific skills, such as programming, algorithmic, software development and teaching. Published 12 articles, developed 2 open-source software tools, attended several conferences, organized an international scientific meeting, and organized/taught several national bioimage analysis courses. She is currently an Investigator contracted as BioImage Analyst, under PPBI national project, at Instituto deInvestigação e Inovação em Saúde (I3S). Integrated into a scientific platform, she collaborates with all the I3Sgroups giving support, training, and image analysis consulting. She is also responsible for teaching BioImageAnalysis and Computational Neuroscience for the Neuroscience master and doctoral programs at FMUP.
