This continuing education program aims to enable students to acquire up-to-date theoretical knowledge and to engage with relevant laboratory-based scientific research, allowing them to:
-
Identify, understand, and describe processes that modulate the redox state (not only the production of reactive species and free radicals, but also the regulation of antioxidant defense mechanisms) in an organism;
-
Identify various components of metabolic dysfunction and identify, understand, and explain the dysregulation of redox mechanisms that occurs in them;
-
Identify the etiological or protective role of diet in various components of metabolic dysfunction, and understand and explain redox mechanisms involved;
-
Identify, understand, and explain changes in redox status during aging; recognize and describe similarities with metabolic dysfunction;
-
Become familiar with various methodologies for assessing aging in an organism.
