Forensic sciences are a scientific area undergoing great evolution, with new contributions and intervention sub-specialities emerging on a regular basis, offering important strategies and solutions to be implemented in the field, in order to guarantee an increasingly safe response (based on scientific evidence) by forensic professionals in the production of evidence. This will make an important contribution to the proper administration of justice, as well as to promoting the health and protection/safety of citizens. It is therefore important that (future) forensic professionals - or those who, due to the type of activity they carry out, need knowledge in this area - can benefit from specialised, multidisciplinary training in this area, which, as well as promoting technical and scientific knowledge, skills and competences, will stimulate the fundamental coordination between professionals from the various areas, which is now a key point in guaranteeing the successful outcome of a forensic intervention. In each edition we will also try to emphasise and arouse the interest of professionals in emerging forensic areas.
