The PhD Program in Medicine and Molecular Oncology is the result of collaboration between the two medical schools of U.Porto (FMUP and ICBAS) and some of the main national health research centers.

This 3rd Cycle of Studies is essentially intended for medical doctors, dentists, and veterinarians and seeks to prepare medical scientists who wish to integrate medical knowledge with Molecular Biology, applying them to diagnosis, therapy, and prognosis.

The study plan comprises an initial academic component, which includes core and optional course units, and the development of an original research project. Throughout the Program, which lasts four years and totals 210 ECTS, students also have access to seminars, sessions of a general nature or focused on specific scientific problems, as well as courses and internships at different institutions.
