Doctoral Programme in Forensic Sciences

OVERVIEW 
The 3rd cycle of studies in Forensic Sciences of the University of Porto is a tailor-made program that enables people from multiple backgrounds to acquire the specialized forensic skills and investigational autonomy in Forensic Sciences, through the development of a doctoral thesis. During the first year, the students attend a short core curriculum covering several emerging areas of Forensic Sciences, as well as issues related to Juridical Sciences, Criminology and investigation methodologies. This common core is followed by a variety of optional curricular units encompassing the main research areas of forensic sciences, which allows students to obtain a specialization in Forensic Medical Sciences, Forensic Laboratory Sciences or Forensic Psychological Sciences.
Such a broad, multidisciplinary approach is guaranteed by the collaboration of diverse and distinct Schools of the University of Porto, identified below.

COLLABORATING INSTITUTIONS
Faculties of Medicine, Law, Psychology and Education, Pharmacy, Sciences and Dental Medicine as well as the Biomedical Sciences Institute “Abel Salazar”. 

ELIGIBILITY
Degree in medicine or other health related sciences, odontology, law, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, psychology, anthropology, nursing, social services, sociology, criminal sciences and police sciences. Other areas, upon curricular evaluation, may be considered.

STUDENTS CAN DEVELOP THEIR THESIS IN THE AREAS OF
Clinical forensic medicine, forensic Psychiatry, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Anatomopathology, Death Scene Investigation, Forensic Odontology, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Genetics, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Geology, Forensic Plant Biology and Palynology, Forensic Entomology, Ballistics and other forensic sciences.

Fee Part Time: 5625¤/year
